Operation Christmas Child

We packed two shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child this last week. We heard about the organization, Samaritan's Purse, that sponsors O.C.C. through a blog that I like to read. We were able to pack the boxes and drop them off at a church in town, so it turned out great! Anya was especially excited to go shopping, and pick out all the goodies. Once we got the boxes ready, Anya had to personally carry hers to the drop off, and was very concerned about the logistics of how the box would get there. Ally was just interested in playing with the toys, and trying to get the candy open. We do some other Christmas gift giving projects, but this one seemed really special. We held hands (Ally too), and said a little prayer, blessing the boy & girl that would get the boxes. Before I've always just bought the gifts, and never given much thought to saying a prayer of blessing. Duh! Anyway, we had a wonderful time together, and it truly did feel better to give than receive.

Anya's Pirate Telescope

Ally put her telescope on her nose, instead of her eye,
so Anya deemed her The Pinocchio Pirate.
